Hey U. City! It's Homecoming season once again. The school district’s theme is “I’m from the U, and I’m proud”. To honor this, the University City High School Alumni Association is pulling out all the stops to showcase “The Best of the Best!”

Last year, we brought back The Spirit Bonfire. It was a great event. We are doing it again this time with a couple of improvements. The Spirit Bonfire 2023 will serve as the kick-off event for Homecoming on September 23 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Heman Park. This is a free, family-friendly event with security provided by the UCPD. In response to community concerns about the harmful effects of a memorial balloon release, we have opted to host a memorial candle glow in honor of our Alumni family members who will not be here to celebrate with us. The University City High School Alumni Association will have battery-operated tealight candles for this part of the evening. Music will be provided by a guest D.J. We invite you to bring your party mood and join in the fun.

We will not provide food for this event but if individuals or families wish to make it a small, campfire picnic-type atmosphere, that would be fine by us. All we ask is that you clean up behind yourselves to help us ensure that we leave the park in perfect condition.

At 8 p.m., once the firepits have been safely extinguished by the UCFD, the UCHS Alumni Association will head over to the After Party at Blueberry Hill located at 6504 Delmar Blvd. This party is from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. Must be 21 years or older to attend.

On Saturday, September 30. 2023, after the Homecoming Parade, football game, and tailgate party have come to an end, the “Best of the Best” has one more event you won’t want to miss.

Comedian, Darius Bradford, this party takes place in the Ballroom at the Clayton Plaza Hotel located at 7750 Carondelet Ave. in Clayton, MO.

Tickets are priced as follows:

• General Admission is $25 Doors open at 9 p.m.
  
• VIP Seating is $40 Doors open at 7 p.m. for hors d’ouerves and cash bar reception
  
• VIP Tables are $500 and seat up to 8 guests. Doors open at 7 p.m. for hors d’ouerves and cash bar reception
